Hello! Today I've been working on a very special page of my art journal.
I have always loved urban art and one of its representatives, Banksy.
One of his most iconic pieces is the girl with the red balloon, that originally was found in the South Bank of London.
The phrase "There is always hope", after seeing your balloon fly away, is a very inspirational message for me.
I have slightly adapted the image to make it fit nicely with the rest of the elements.
We will start making the wall. It is done with the stencil paste and the brick wall stencil. The idea is to make this effect in certain areas achieving an unfinished effect.
Overlapping the side of the brick wall we now use the stencil paste over the Organic texture stencil making the center thicker and making the edges thinner by pressing with the spatula. Now, in the center of the page, we apply a layer of gesso.
We put on the surface blots of soil coloured ink and we spray water and mix the colours by moving the sheet around.
Where there's more ink accumulated we put some thick salt and let it dry.
The salt absorbs part of the pigment and leaves a very nice looking stain. Once it is dry we can rub the salt off.
On the edges of the sheet we can now apply distress inks in ochre and brown tones.
We can sprinckle a bit of water on the edges over the distress paint and we then dry it with some towel paper. The water erases the pigment and leaves bleached-like stains on the "wall".
Ya solo queda trazar y pintar la niña con el globo y el texto
I hope you liked it and try to create textures using these techniques.
