With a stencil and stencil paste it is possible to create decorations that transform the look of objects that you have normally at home. Proof of this is this wooden box and this glass bottle, that will turn into a flower vase. The change is so amazing that it is unrecognizable.
The materials needed for this transformation are:
- Chalk paint
- Gold effect paint (you can use Markal Paintstik Paint Iridescent Gold)
- Fine-grained sandpaper
- Small drill
The steps that have been taken to make this vase are:
1º.- As the bottle was bigger than the box, we drilled the top of the box to be able to introduce the bottle neck.
We used a drill and we sanded to smooth the surface.
2º.- Then we painted the box and the bottle with chalk paint.
3º.- The same paint was used to color the stencil paste and was applied to the stencil on the outer sides of the box and the bottle.
Once the stencil was taken away, we removed the excess with a wet wipe. When the stencil is larger than the object, you can mask the area that stands out with masking tape.
4º.- Once it has dried and the paste is hard (about half an hour), you have to sand the whole area with a fine-grained sandpaper.
5º.- Then we give a coat of golden effect paint, providing a metallic patina, and we sand again.
6º.- Finally, we cover the bottom of the box with copper colored paper, creating a contrast with the glass bottle, making it stand out.
After all these steps you just need to introduce the bottle inside the box and place your favorite flower.
